French Twist, Brisbane

French Twist

where: 104 Melbourne St, South Brisbane

Outside, you’ll see a lot of small round tables and typical French cafe chairs. Then you’ll definitely spot some breads in the window. And finally, when you walk in, you’ll be pinching yourself, like I did, thinking this must be a dream. But the best news is: this may be a dream, but the one that comes true – this place really exist and looks superb!

I instantly felt so good, almost at home. The decorations, the smell, everything was just right. And all I thought was “please, please, be as good as you look, gorgeous food”.

Ooooh, and it was.

That was the best breakfast I had since I’m in Australia (and I’m here more than 2 years already). It was not only delicious, but also looked beautiful.

I was so overwhelmed by the decor, that I couldn’t concentrate on the menu and now I can’t really remember what exactly we had.

Hubby tried toasts with ham (obviously), mustard and some kind of a spicy jam. That was about $12 and the verdict was: not enough meat.

I had a toasted sourdough bread with avocado, poached egg, grilled asparagus (very nice buttery flavour, that’s what I love in honest French cooking) and way too much prosciutto (but hey, Hubby wanted more meat, right? ). I think I don’t have to tell you how amazing it was, I’ll let the photo speak for itself:

Loving your photography. Do they have French pastries as well — I can never refuse a good strawberry tart 🙂

Thanks Simon! 🙂 They do have some pastries, not sure if there is a strawberry one though.
