Guzman y Gomez
where: Brisbane, 142 Albert Street
My name is Aga and I am a burrito addict. It started few months ago, when there was only one GyG in the walking distance from my apartment. And by walking distance I mean 30 mins walk. 30 mins one way. And few weeks ago it all started to get worse. It’s no more just a once-a-month treat. It’s more on a daily basis. What happened? They opened a new store, much closer to my place, on Albert Street (Brisbane CBD).
On the big opening day I worked until 5.30pm, few km out of the city. Knowing that there is a free burrito day I couldn’t miss the opportunity. It was around 7pm and the line was still huge.
I was getting more and more hungry…
And after about 25 minutes we were in!! Smell from the kitchen was amazing and I was more than excited to see how nice this place looks.
We usually order chicken burritos, with extra guacamole for me, so this time it was no different. Food, Corona and live mariachi performance. That was so nice.
We were just surprised how quickly all what left from our dinner was just a piece of foil 😉
The next day I saw their tweet:
So congrats GyG! Keep the awesomeness coming!
Since the opening we were there many many times (yes, my husband is now also addicted) and I can say I truly love that place. Meat is always perfectly grilled, you can feel it’s marinated in some great spices and the smokiness just takes it to another level. When you add to that a perfect tortilla and black beans… you’re in heaven. Just don’t forget to ask for extra guacamole!
