Pullman Phuket – ticks all the boxes

What do you imagine when you daydream about your perfect beach side vacations? For me it’s always a beautiful room from which I can see the ocean, a bed so soft I immediately want to jump on it, silence & privacy so I feel like I’m alone. I see light colours, seating on a chair and reading a book until sunset. Food delivered to my room and coffee served in the cutest little cup. It’s all idyllic, sunny and unspoiled. And I won’t lie if I say that Pullman Phuket Arcadia made it very close to being my perfect beach side place that I often dream about.

Room

The most amazing welcome spread of chocolates, fruits and charcuterie waited for us on the table, accompanied by a welcome card from the General Manager. It caught my eye immediately and almost diverted my attention from other features of the room, that were being described to us when we entered the room. There was a separate, generously sized wardrobe, big rain shower with a window and greenery outside, soft bed calling my name, nespresso machine (no milk frother though) and a small fridge with complimentary soft drinks in it. And the view. The view was pristine.

Our ocean view room was decorated in “my” style – lots of white-ish, pastel, wood, different textures and simple, timeless decor. The kind of room that I didn’t really want to leave much. That’s probably why we ordered room service instead of going out to the restaurant on our first night.

Food

After visiting many hotels in Asia, I can say I haven’t seen a breakfast that offers so many choices. I had a feeling they not only had everything I could ask for but were a step ahead. Energising fresh juice shots? Why not. Bloody Mary station? No problem. Beautiful cheese that reminded me of the best ones I had in Europe? Of course. Pastries, bread, fruits, ham, salads – everything lavishly displayed. Pretty decent coffee made to order and an option of make-yourself nespresso.

Usually we’re worried if breakfast will be diverse enough to not get bored of it after 3 days. In Pullman our concern was we would not have enough time to try most of the things on offer. Big applause for the breakfast spread.

We also had quite a few meals from the Elements Restaurant. They all have been really well composed and generously sized. The first lunch we’ve had there kept us full for a long time. We ordered only from the Thai part of the menu, as this was the kind of food we wanted to eat while in Thailand. And part because of  that and part we were there only for two days, we didn’t manage to try their good looking italian restaurant.

A small deli offering smoothies, coffees, cakes and other goodies was also a nice touch. You don’t have to go to the restaurant or call for room service when you only want an ice coffee or other small-pick-me-up. Pullman, you’ve made me a one happy foodie.

Facilities

Here comes another part where Pullman offers a very good choice. For those who like to stay active there are yoga classes, aqua aerobic, fully equipped gym and swimming pools. If you prefer to spend your time relaxing, there are many possibilities. One of them that I enjoyed the most, was a terrace overlooking the sea, and seating there on comfy beanbags.

I also visited the Dhatri Spa for a pedicure. Well equipped room, herbal tea and dried sweet tomatoes to snack on during the treatment. Priced much higher than spa options on the streets, but you get what you pay for – very professional staff, no problems with communicating in English.

The resort is kid friendly, offering not only baby sitting services but also a club where kids can play and take part in some of the interesting activities.

In a walking distance:

Direct access to Naithon Beach (via stairs or free shuttle). One of the quiet, small beaches in Phuket, where you will be able to actually relax and won’t be nagged by lots of people trying to sell you something. Good length and positioning for a sunset stroll. Many food options along the beach with over 20 restaurants (within 15 min walk) and a few shops and stalls by the road.

Overall

Pampering the guest is at the forefront of Pullman’s philosophy and from the moment you arrive you can feel they care (which for us is often make or break situation). And the words “Check in and chill out” which you’ll see and hear many times during your stay are perfectly summing up how our two days there went – we checked in, chilled out and didn’t want to leave.

That’s where I want to be right NOW. That place looks magical. Like you I like a room with a view and definitely a bed that you melt in because it is so soft.
